What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, keep information in your browser in the same way. Some are needed for a site to work; others, such as analytics cookies, are optional.
Which types do we use?
- Strictly necessary: needed to deliver the site securely and to remember your consent choice. These do not need your consent.
- Analytics: Google Analytics cookies that help us understand how visitors use the site. They are set only if Google Analytics is switched on and you click Accept. At the date of this policy, Google Analytics is not switched on.
We do not use advertising or social media cookies.
What exactly is stored?
| Name | Set by | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| motiv-consent-v1 (local storage) | hellomotiv.com | Strictly necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics | Until you clear this site's data in your browser |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Strictly necessary | Tells people apart from automated traffic to protect the site | 30 minutes |
| cf_clearance | Cloudflare | Strictly necessary | Set only after you pass a Cloudflare security check, so you are not asked again | As set by the site's security settings |
| _ga | Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another | 2 years | |
| _ga_<container-id> | Analytics | Keeps track of your current visit | 2 years |
Cloudflare sets its cookies only when its security features need them, so you may not see them on every visit. The Google Analytics cookies are never set unless Google Analytics is switched on and you have accepted it.
How do you give or withdraw consent?
On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics. Nothing optional is set until you click Accept, and Reject is just as easy. Your choice is saved in your browser under motiv-consent-v1.
To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings, usually found under Privacy, Cookies or Site data. This removes your saved choice and any analytics cookies already set, and the banner will appear again on your next visit. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser at any time, although blocking strictly necessary items may stop parts of the site working.
